8 Days in Paradise: From the Urban Chic of Manila to the White Sands of Boracay
If you’ve ever dreamed of a trip that blends world-class city experiences with island serenity, the Philippines is calling your name. I just returned from an 8-day journey split between Manila and Boracay, and it was nothing short of incredible — from luxurious hotels and next-level food to white-sand beaches and unforgettable sunsets.
Days 1 & 2: Sophisticated City Vibes at Shangri-La at the Fort, BGC
We kicked things off in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) — Manila’s clean, modern, and walkable financial district that feels like the future with palm trees.
Our home for the first two nights was the Shangri-La at the Fort, a towering luxury hotel that serves as a haven in the middle of the city buzz.
🛏️ The Hotel
The Shangri-La at the Fort is sleek, grand, and surprisingly tranquil considering its central location. The rooms were spacious with stunning city views, and the service? Impeccable from the moment we checked in.
🍸 Sips & Steaks
We ventured out to The Electric Garden, and wow — this place is a hidden gem. It’s a tucked-away bar with ultra-creative cocktails, moody jungle vibes, and just the right amount of edge. Every drink was a work of art (and dangerously delicious).
For dinner, we indulged at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, a classic choice that didn’t disappoint. The steak was melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly aged, and the wine list paired flawlessly.
💆♀️ Relax & Recharge
We also took full advantage of Shangri-La’s spa and wellness offerings. The pool area was serene, and the gym was honestly one of the best-equipped hotel gyms I’ve ever stepped foot in — think luxury health club level.
Days 3–8: Pure Island Bliss at The Lind, Boracay
From the sleek city to tropical paradise — a quick flight and boat ride later, we were stepping onto the white sands of Boracay.
We checked in at The Lind, located on the peaceful Station 1 stretch of White Beach. This hotel is something special. The views, the ambiance, the service — everything exceeded expectations.
🌊 Beachfront Dreams
From our balcony, we had sweeping views of the crystal-clear turquoise water. The beach was just steps away — the kind of white, powdery sand that you only see in travel magazines (and now, in my dreams).
🌇 Unforgettable Sunsets
Every night, we made it a point to watch the sunset. And every night, it felt like a spiritual experience. The sky transformed into layers of orange, lavender, and deep pink, with sandcastles lit by candlelight and gentle waves kissing the shore.
🏖️ Rooftop Paradise
The infinity pool on the roof of The Lind is easily one of the best spots on the island. Picture this: sunken lounge chairs, cocktails in hand, panoramic ocean views — it’s everything you imagine when you think “vacation goals.”
🤝 Stellar Hospitality
A special shoutout to Mr. Brian, the concierge, who truly went above and beyond. Whether it was helping us arrange excursions, making dinner reservations, or just checking in on our stay, he made us feel completely cared for.
Final Night: Edsa Shangri-La, Spa Indulgence & One Last Feast
After flying back from Boracay, we spent our final night at the Edsa Shangri-La in Manila, and it was the perfect way to wrap up the trip.
🧖♀️ Spa Like Royalty
We treated ourselves to a Royal Hammam treatment and a massage, and honestly? It was the perfect send-off. The hammam experience was deeply relaxing, cleansing, and just what our travel-weary bodies needed before the long flight home.
🥩 A Steakhouse Experience to Remember
Dinner was at Wagyu Steakhouse, and it was interactive and delicious. We cooked our own Tomahawk Ribeye on a sizzling hot stone at our table — a hands-on, juicy, and unforgettable dining experience.
The Takeaway
From luxury towers and stylish cocktail bars in Manila to white sand, infinity pools, and sunset views in Boracay — this trip was the ultimate blend of adventure, indulgence, and soul-soothing relaxation.
If you’re thinking of visiting the Philippines — do it. It’s a destination that leaves its mark on your heart and your taste buds.
Until the next adventure,
